A University of Georgia student threatened to commit suicide on Valentine’s Day by jumping from the top level of a parking deck in downtown Athens.
Police said they responded at 2:45 a.m. to the parking structure on East Clayton Street and found the 21- year-old from Florida being held on the ground by one of his friends, who was trying to console him.
Officers learned that the distraught young man had been out on a ledge threatening to jump when his friends pulled him back to safety.
He was transported to the hospital by National EMS.
